    the little rock, rocky place?

Tá cur síos san Fhardal Seandálaíochta (www.archaeology.ie) ar an teampall agus ar iarsmaí eaglasta eile atá le fáil taobh leis. B’fhéidir go bhfaigheann an áit ainm ó cháilíocht na talún seachas ó charraig ar leith: ritheann sraith de thalamh charraigeach trí lár an bhaile fearainn trasna, faoi bhun an teampaill amach (‘Lithosols’, ‘Limestone sands and gravels’ www.epa.ie).

Tá an méid seo le rá faoin áit ag Lewis in Top. Dict. II (1838) faoin ainm Kilmanman or Clonaslee:

[Manman] also built the monastery of Lanchoil, or Lahoil, and called it Corrigeen, or the “hermitage of the rocks.” It is about two miles west from Kilmanman church, and near it is a barrow, called “the giant’s grave”.

Tá sé seo bunaithe ar an eolas in Par. Stat. III 319 (1819), nach léir a údarás. Féach dr Droichead na Leathchúile (#107022) díreach lastoir ó dheas in bf Garraí Hoidir (#28376).
