Explanatory note
- English
The word lua is also found in a couple of river-names in South-West Munster. On the eastern slopes of Mangerton Mountain rises the little river Loo .. and we may safely infer that the Irish name of this river is Lua from the fact Loo Bridge is known as Drohad Lua in the Irish of West Muskerry. T. F. O'Rahilly, Hermathena 23 (1933) 216.
