    Ní léir brí blá anseo.
Pléann Roibeárd Ó hÚrdail an logainm in alt leis, 'The Placename Béal na Blá', san iris Journal of the Cork Historical and Archaeological Society, 104 (1999), 111–116, agus molann gurb é an focal blá, 'faiche, plásóg, &c.' (féach A Dictionary of the Irish Language, www.dil.ie), atá san eilimint deiridh.
Ní thagann an fhianaise teangeolaíochta le Béal na (m)Bláth, foirm Ghaeilge a luaitear go minic leis an logainm seo. Féach leis Art Ó Maolfhabhail, 'Béalnabláth nó Béal Átha na Bláithche?', san iris chéanna, iml. 97 (1992), lgh. 80–84

The meaning of blá is unclear.
Roibeárd Ó hÚrdail discusses the name in 'The Placename Béal na Blá', Journal of the Cork Historical and Archaeological Society, 104 (1999), 111–116, proposing that the final element is the word blá, 'green, lawn, &c.' (féach A Dictionary of the Irish Language, www.dil.ie).
The linguistic evidence does not support Béal na (m)Bláth, an Irish form often associated with this placename. See also Art Ó Maolfhabhail, 'Béalnabláth nó Béal Átha na Bláithche?', in the same journal, vol. 97 (1992), pp. 80–84.
