Cill Mór, 'great church'
Situated in the Townland of Kilmore (Cill Mór, Great Church) were seven Churches, the sites of which can be pointed out by the inhabitants. It is stated in the Name Book of this Parish, p. 33, that near the place where these Churches stood, is Killeen Church ruins, and in p.35, Killeen Church (ruins) are set down as situated in the Townland of Killeen in the Parish of Kiloory. There is no Townland of Killeen in the Parish; the term Killeen then must have been applied to the Church ruins, or to one of the Churches which are said to be have been in Kilmore, just now mentioned.
