Ó Gamhdáin (< Ó Gamhnáin) — sloinne?Is cosúil ar an bhfianaise is luaithe, 1303–6 ‘Balygeuenan’, gur Baile Uí Ghamhnáin “the town of Ó Gamhnáin” an bhunfhoirm den logainm seo. Cf. tagairtí sna Fiants do dhaoine dar sloinne ‘O Gownan’ i measc lucht na mBranach i gContae Chill Mhantáin.
1805 an chéad tagairt don ainm Béarla Cuffsborough.
