Is minic a luaitear an baile fearainn seo le logainm eile 1282–83 ‘Balicollemon’, 1297 ‘Balycolman’, srl. Cé go bhfuil cuma thrédhearcach air sin ar an gcéad fhéachaint níl a bhunús soiléir. Ní bheifí ag súil le hainm naoimh ar nós Colmán (mórnaomh de chuid Laoise (cf. bf An Nuachabháil (#28230)), a theacht i ndiaidh baile i logainmneacha. B’fhéidir go bhféadfaí ‘Balicollemon’ a chur i gcomparáid le 1224c ‘Ballikewan’, 1297 ‘Balykeuan’ faoi bf Baile Mhic Giolla Chaomháin (#28153), inar cosúil go seasann Kevan sna foirmeacha luatha béarlaithe do (Mac) Giolla Chaomháin na Gaeilge (1378 ‘Balymcgylkewan’). Cf. obit 1129 ‘Giollacolmáin Ua Ceallaigh uasalshagart Dearmhaighe Cholaim Chille’ sna hAnnála (par Darú (#2019) i gContae Uíbh Fhailí).Ní heol dúinn aon bhaint ag an sloinne Ó Colmáin leis an bparóiste seo.
