Tá sé le tuiscint as foirmeacha an 19ú haois gurb éard atá anseo ná foirm den fhocal gairfean “rough land?” in -n deiridh caol (cf. www.dil.ie s.v. gairbthen (fir.), ach féach bf Cnoc na Gairfine (#20596) (Ga)).
