Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
Ainm Béarla, nach cinnte a bhunús, fágtha gan aistriú. Tá samplaí den sloinne Hall le fáil in oirthuaisceart an chontae in Griffith’s Valuation.
Ainmneacha stairiúla:
Mheas Ó Corragáin gurbh ionann an baile fearainn seo agus 1660 ‘Killaterry’ BSD, 1666 ‘Killasery’ ASE (< Coill an tSearraigh “the wood of the foal”?), cuid de shealbhas talún a baineadh de Phádraig Mac Fhinín (Mac Giolla Phádraig) in 1653: ‘Cappanarra, Cloninlurkan, Killaterry and Lackeymore … The old name of Mounthall is forgotten, but there can be no doubt that it was Killaterry, and that it represents the original name of Mounthall churchyard’ (History and Antiquities of the Diocese of Ossory II 151). Ach féach nach bhfuil aon iarsmaí eaglasta sa bhaile fearainn seo ná níl aon tuairisc ar chillín ná reilig a bheith anseo san Fhardal Seandálaíochta. Ní féidir an áit seo a cheangal leis an logainm stairiúil.
