Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
crooked pasture
Lúbann an portach timpeall ar chnoc (105m) anseo. Is cosúil go bhfuil ch /x/ na Gaeilge le sonrú in iontrálacha 1549–1563, ach tá cuma thruaillithe ar thosach na bhfoirmeacha seo i ndiaidh C- (‘Cough-’, ‘Curi-’). An ch- /x-/ seo a theacht i ndiaidh an -m (gan ghuta cúnta) faoi ndear é a athrú go /p/ (1805, 1838). Cf. bf Camchluain (#27924) in Uí Fhairchealláin.
