"Pinkman: Gráinseach = A grange or a granary Gráinseach denotes, in particular, a place belonging to a monastery or any abbey, where grain was stored. Grange is in the Parish of Kiltoghert, about two miles north of Carrick-on-Shannon. The road from Carrick to Ballinamore passes through it. It contains the ruins of an abbey, which may be seen from the road. Its full name was Sean-Chloch-na-Gráinsighe, old stone house of the grange or granary. And, apparently, it was connected with the Cistercian Abbey in Boyle. For in a Grant of the Abbey lands of Boyle, given on the 4th December, 1608, to Sir John King by a Patent of James I there appears this passage. “And, also, one other Grange, in the Co. Leitrim, called the Grange of Muintirolis, containing in it, by common estimation, four quarters of land belonging to the said Abbey, that is to say, Liscally, Drumloman, Lismacagan, Clogher and Dromore with all and singular their appurtenances and, also, all and singular their tithes, as well gre
