"LSO: The Mac Keegans were one of the ancient septs of Breifny under O’Rourke, as appears from the following distich in O’Dugan’s Topographical Poem:- Mac Cagadháin cuairt blaidhe, Air chloinn uasail Fearmaighe. I have not been able to determine the locality of the Territory of Farmay for the want of the Leitrim Inquisitions, but I find the name Mac Keegan enter into the name of a Townland in the Parish of Kiltaghert, viz. Lismakeegan, which would seem to intimate that his Territory was in that neighbourhood. The family are not now numerous here. "
