"Pinkman: Sráth-Bric = River holm of the trout. The level soft meadow land along the banks of a river or a lake is called a srath. At times it may be flooded and generally it is of a marshy nature. Breac, means spotted. A trout is called breac, because it is spotted; and so is the small pox, galar breac, the spotted disease. But breac is often used of any fish taken with a hook. "
