"Pinkman: Ceann Eaghra, nó Ceann-Uí hEaghra. O’Hara’s head or hill. An old spelloing of the name was Cinearra. The O’Haras derive their name and descent from Eaghra, lord of Luighne, who died in the year 926. They were for many centuries lords of Luighney – now the barony of Leyney in Co. Sligo. Drumlease Parish, in which Kinnara is situated, adjoins Co. Sligo. Some of the family may have settled here. "
