"Pinkman: Doire-loiste = Oakwood of (beside) the well-cultivated field. Losad, genitive loiste, means a kneading trough. In olden times it was an essential article of the home, when people made their own bread. The word is used here in a transferred sence. A kneading trough, filled with dough , is full of rich produce. So is a well-cultivated field, and so is a good piece of land. A farmer calls his well-laid-out field a fine ‘losset,’ because he sees it covered with rich produce – like the kneading trough. "
