"LSO: “Innsimagrath Parish is called Ionas (not Inis) Mac Rátha, which is said to signify the Island of Megrath. The island from which the name is taken lies in Lough Allen. This Lough is called in Irish Loch Áillfhionn. In the Four Masters we find the orthography Loch Aillinne. The people say Aillfhionn was a woman who is so powerful even at this day in her dominion of this Lough that if any reproachful words were expressed aginst here by any one sailing in a boat on the lake, a storm would immediately arise. Other fables are told about three sisters giving names to Lough Allen, Lough Melvin and Lough Mac Neane but they are not worth attention. The fable about Lough Melvin is contrary to the written one about King Melghe Molbhtahc. See Annals and Dinnseanchus.” 134/265 "
