"Pinkman: Coill-Fhada = Long wood. The Down Survey had Quillifadoe, and a Royal Commission Report (1821) has Killefad, alias Quillifadda. There is a difficulty here, too, with regard to the letter ‘y’ in the English name. Does it represent a vowel sound introduced in pronunciation and is the Irish form Coill-Fhada or an Choill Fhada? Or is it that the genitive coille is used as nominative? (Compare Killameen above)."
