Explanatory note

  • Gaeilge

Is aistriúchán í an fhoirm Ghaeilge.
** ** *Sceitheachán, '(small) place of hawthorns, thorn-bushes', is dócha, an logainm atá le feiscint in iontrálacha 1581–1660c. Níorbh ionann is bf Deerpark ar fad, áfach; cuid den bhaile fearainn sin agus cuid de bf Lios an Choill an lae inniu a bhí i gceist leis an sean-logainm.

  • English

The Irish form is a translation.
The placename seen in entries 1581–1660c is probably ** ** *Sceitheachán, '(small) place of hawthorns, thorn-bushes'. This was not exactly the same as the townland of Deerpark however; the old placename referred to a portion of this townland together with some of what is now the townland of Lios an Choill/Lisaquill.
