An Choill Íochtair, ‘the lower wood’. ?? – “The recommended Irish form is merely a guess, based mainly on a suggested emendation of the DS form Culleghtee to Culleghter. The loss of the ch sound before a following t is a characteristic of south Ulster Irish...and so the form Killeter is not altogether unexpected as a representation of Coill Íochtair.”
