The name of this parish would appear to be compounded of Ros, a wood or shrubbery, and Mionóg, q.d. Mo-Innoc, the name of a saint, but there is no tradition now in existence to support this derivation. The patron saint of the parish is totally forgotten, and there is no holy well nor other feature in the parish preserving his name. Qu? is he the Enán, son of Genian(sic.)of Rosmor in Hy-Deaghaidh in Hy-Kinshellagh?
