"There are also several spring wells in the townland from one of which it derives its named. There was formerly a rath or fort around this well from which it was called 'Lisanisky,' I.e. the water of the fort. It is situated in the North side of townland. There are crossroads in south side of townland called 'Carthy's Cross' after a farmer of that name..."
