"Pinkman: Béal-Aoibhill = Aeville’s or Haville’s ford. Béál-Aoibhill, or perhaps Béal-Átha-hAoibhill, is the name of a lough a couple of miles South-East of Killarga Parish Church. It was formerly called Cleen Lough, Claon-Loch. The River Duff or Diffagher flows from it into Lough Allen. Belhavel townland lies on the west of the lough. Haville is a woman’s name, and the tradition of the locality, in O’Donovan’s time, was that she was a Spaniard. "
