"Pinkman: Fál-a’-chartha = Field of the rock. Fál means a hedge or a boundary – the fence that separated the lands of two holdings. In local names it is often applied to the field or fields enclosed by the fál. Compare ‘the Falls’ and ‘the Falls Road,’ Belfast, which get their names from a district called Tuath-na-bhFál. "
