"Pinkman: Fidh-Doradha = Deray’s wood (Fiodh) The Four Masters write under date AD 1345:- “Turlough, the son of Hugh, son of Owen O’Connor, King of Connaught was killed in Autumn by one shot of an arrow at Fidh-Doradha in Muintir-Eolais, after he had gone to Loch Airinn to aid Teige McRannall against the descendants of Murtough Muimhneach O’Connor. The Clan Murtough and the rest of the Muintir Eolais pursued him as far as Fidh-Doradh, and killed him at Guirtín-na-Spideóige. “Fidh-Doradha” is Fedare in the Parish of Annaduff. (Hogan and O’Donovan). “Guirtín-na-Spideóige” – ‘little field of the robin red-breast’ – was the name of a place beside Fedare, but the name is now obsolete. In an Inquisition taken 1631, Federroe and Cornespedoge are mentioned in the barony of Mohill, Co. Leitrim. “Loch Airinn” is Lough Rinn near Mohill. The Annals of Clonmacnoise, in describing this event write ‘Logh Aryn.’ They add “There was not a greater exploit done by an arrow, since Neale of the Nine Hostag
