"Pinkman Críonach = Dry or decayed wood, withered branches, things dry and rotten with age. The term is applied to places that contain such material. There is Creenagh on the south shore of Roscunnish Lough, and there is Creenagh about a mile from Mohill town, Parish of Gortlettera. In this latter there is a place called Uaigh-na-bhfathach, grave of the giants. It lies near the southern border of the townland. From an Inquisition taken at Carrowdrumroosk … 3rd March 1620 it appears that “Carrowcrinagh” formed part of the Termon lands of Cloone. This seems [sic] Creenagh or Gortletteragh Parish (now)."
