Church. ‘Abbey (in Ruins), Church (in Ruins).’ On a local rise in an undulating landscape with rock outcrop. Traditionally, as recorded in the Book of Fenagh which was originally written in the 14th century, a church was established by St Callin in the 6th century after the saint transformed local druids into stones, and Aodh Finn, son of Feargna, granted his own cashel to Callin. The earliest reference to the termon is in 1125. The coarbs, generally from the O’Rodachain or Roddy family, are first mentioned in 1244, when the church was described as roofless; later coarbs are recorded from 1377 to 1532, while the last mention of a coarb is in 1590. The lands were transferred to the Protestant bishop of Ardagh in 1585, and the W end of the principal church was used for worship until the nearby C of I church was built c. 1800. The remains consist of…. (175-6) Court tomb. On a small hilloc
