Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
the stream of the pigs
Is deacair an dá eilimint glais(e) “stream” agus clais “trench” a aithint thar a chéile i bhfoirmeacha stairiúla béarlaithe. Ar a chosúlachtaí atá siad i bhfoirm agus i mbrí, bíonn siad measctha le chéile fiú amháin in áiteanna mar ar fhan an Ghaeilge láidir, m.sh. Clashacrow/Glais an Chró (#26816) (CC).
Sa chás seo féach go bhfuil an Fheoir ar theorainn thuaidh an bhaile fearainn agus go bhfuil sruthán ag rith aneas ar a theorainn thoir agus sruthán eile aneas trína lár.
Pé acu glais(e) nó clais atá ann ó cheart, tá fuaimniú an ghuta a-cúil /ɑ/ le tabhairt faoi deara anseo (/ɑ~ɔ/, b’fhéidir); cf. nóta faoi bf An Ghlaise (#28093).
