the rock of Fionn
Fionn — ainm pearsantaDhealródh sé nach bhfuil an baile fearainn seo róshean agus is léir gur thóg sé ainm ón gcnoc (féach #1417882). (Is é an cnoc féin atá i gceist leis an tagairt truaillithe 1608 ‘the mountain of Carrigeahae’ [leg. ‘Carrigeyne’?].)
Tá cuntas ag O’Hanlon ar ‘Druid’s Altar’ i dtuaisceart an bhaile fearainn nach bhfuil léirithe ar aon léarscail ná nach bhfuil trácht air san Fhardal Seandálaíochta (‘Antiquities in Killenny and Kilteale’ PRIA iml. I sr. II 153).
Cf. cn Carraig Oisín (#1417883).
