"Pinkman: Coill-an-Chlocháin = Wood of the stony ford. “Hugh, son of Owen, son of Rory, son of Hugh, son of Cathal Crovderg, King of Connaught – one fit to be a King of Erinn and other lands, for nobility and bounty and prowess, for figure and comeliness – was slain by Hugh Breifne, son of Cathal Roe O’Connor in Coill-an-Chlochain in the territory of the Breifney.” Annals of Loch-Cé, AD 1309. According to O’Donocan, Note, Four Masters, AD 1309, this is probably Killycloghan or Kilcloghan in the Parish of Drumgoon, Co. Cavan.
