"Pinkman: Coill-an-Chlocháin = Wood of the stony ford. “Hugh, son of Owen, son of Rory, son of Hugh, son of Cathal Crovderg, King of Connaught – one fit to be a King of Erinn and other lands, for nobility and bounty and prowess, for figure and comeliness – was slain by Hugh Breifne, son of Cathal Roe O’Connor in Coill-an-Chlochain in the territory of the Breifney.” Annals of Loch-Cé, AD 1309. According to O’Donocan, Note, Four Masters, AD 1309, this is probably Killycloghan or Kilcloghan in the Parish of Drumgoon, Co. Cavan. But it may just as well be this place in the parish of Cloonclare. Compare Hogan, Onomasticon, page 280. And see Note, Annals of Connaugh sub hoc anno "
