An Seabhac: [An] Ráth Teas (nó: Ráth Deas) Tháinig ainm an Phar. ón mbf. den ainm chéana…Tá an Par.ar thrn. thoir phar. Thráighlí agus cuid de bhaile Thráighlí anois tógtha i mblte fearainn an dá Chluanach – beag agus mór ann agus in ionada eile. An ainm – ní léir an ráth sa bhf. anois. Fáth an ‘t’ gan séimhiú sa bhfocal theas – tionchur an ‘t’ i ndeireadh an fhocail ‘ráth’. Féach Ráth Tuaidh ar phar. eile taobh thuaidh de sin. Saorann an ‘t’ séimhithe an ‘t’ in aice leis ón séimhiú ba dhual do ó fháthaibh gramadaighe. An Ráth Teas (Bf.) – ach de ghnáth tugtar An Ráth air, go mór mhór ar an reilig fhairsing atá ann. Ní heol dom aon ráth sa bhf. Ionad agus sean-chille ann agus reilig aosta – reilig nua anois lena ais – reilig a fóghnann leis do bhaile mór Thráighlí.

This is the place called Rath Muighe Deiscirt by the ancient Irish writers. It’s ancient name signifies the Fort of the Southern Plain, deiscirt, Southern having been added to distinguish this from Rath Muighe Tuaiscirt, now Rattoo on the river Casan.
Their names are now corrupted or rather shortened to Rath Teas and Rath Tuaidh, i.e. the Southern Rath and the Northern Rath.
