Tá cnoc sa bhaile fearainn seo a bhfuil fána ghéar ann ar an taobh ó dheas. Maidir leis an bhfoirm stairiúil ‘Tullyalla alias Tavenenogla’, an-seans gurbh é ‘Tavenenogla’ ainm na haille sin: Taobh na nÓglach – “the (hill)side of the young men, (young) warriors”. (JÓG, CÓC)

There is a hill in this townland which has a steep precipice on its southern side. In regard to the historical form ‘Tullyalla alias Tavenenogla’, it seems likely that ‘Tavenenogla’ represents the name of that precipice: Taobh na nÓglach – “the (hill)side of the young men, (young) warriors”.
