Explanatory note

  • Gaeilge

    the church of the hermitage

Cuireann cuid de na tagairtí stairiúla Cill an Deisiúir – “the church of the southerly aspect” in iúl mar mhalairt foirme den ainm seo. Tá an dá láthair eaglasta a luaitear ar léarscáil 25" na Suirbhéireachta Ordanáis (Church (site of); Burial Ground (disused)) suite ar an taobh ó dheas den chnoc 135m (OS Discovery) sa bhaile fearainn seo. (JÓG, 07 Eanáir 2026)

  • English

    the church of the hermitage

Some of the historical references indicate that Cill an Deisiúir – “the church of the southerly aspect” was a variant form of this name. The two ecclesiastical sites mentioned on the 25" Ordnance Survey map (Church (site of); Burial Ground (disused)) are situated on the southern face of the 135m hill marked on the OS Discovery map in the townland.
