The element dúch “black ink”, “black colouring substance found in bog” (FGB) is often found in names of places situated on or beside bogland. See Poll an Dúigh/Polladooey in County Galway and County Longford, Currach an Dúigh/Curraghadooey in County Mayo and Corr an Dúigh/Corradoo in County Sligo, for example. These townlands all contain some bogland (EPA). There is bogland in this townland (EPA).
