John's (st.), or Ivernoon, a parish... It was accidently called Teach-eon-Rinduin and Randown, and appears to have derived the name of St. John's from the foundation of a house for Knights Hospitallers, on the reign of John.

St. John's, held at the little village of Lecarrow..St. John of Teach Eoin..
Pattern of St. John's, held at the little village of Lecarrow..St. John of Teach Eoin.. That the original John of this locality was an Irish saint could be enforced from a legend..which is current amoung the people, that as St. John and his servant were crossing Lough Ree, a storm arose which agitated their curragh, and seperated the servent from St. John, but St. John himself was saved..and landed safe at Portleck. The servent was drowned because he used to be beating the horse very cruelly; yes, because he was very cruel to the beast..."Eoin, the son of Carlan of Teach Eoin"..Archdall writes: "A Priory was founded at Rathdown (recte Randown) or Teach Eoin [sic], commonly called St John's for Knights Hospitallers
