The name of this Parish is pronounced in Irish Clothair Braoin, which signifies the Cloher of Braon, the latter being a man’s name.
'.... Situated in the South West corner of Clogherbrien Townland to the North of the road from Tralee to the Spaw, two miles from the former and one mile from the latter is an extensive burial place having a great number of tombs in it, within which also remains still the crypt of an old church'.
