"Pinkman: Dromán-ruadh = Red little ridge. Dorsulum rubrum. (O’Donovan). This townland lies between Jamestown and Carrick-on-Shannon, in towards the River Shannon. Close to it is a townland, name Rue – rubha, the herb rue. The name is written in the Parish Books and in some ancient writings Drummanrue. I suggest that the proper Irish form is Drummán-rubha, little ridge of the herb-rue. Compare Killinroe, Coillte-an-rubha, Offaly. Four Masters, AD 1475. "
