"CF. CM (Crickawn) Pinkman: Cnuicín = A small hill. Cnuicín is a diminutive of cnoc, a hill. Owing to the difficulty of articulating the letters ‘cn’ and ‘gn’, a change in the letters is often made in anglicizing the Irish words. And so we find the letter ‘r’ substituted for the letter ‘n’. Compare Crock for Cnoc in the following names. "
