"Pinkman: Carraig-sleamhán = Rock of the elm trees. The usual word for an elm tree is leamh, with the diminutive from leamhán. This diminutive form sometimes takes an initial letter ‘S’ and written sleamhán. Carricknelawen – Fiant, Elizabeth 5442. Compare Mullantlavan, Co. Monaghan, rendered by Joyce Mul-an-tsleamháin, hill of the elm tree. Teige O’Roddy, the last distinguished man of the Coarbs of Fenagh, is said to have lived here and to have been evicted from it in 1694. "
