"Arch. Inventory Crannóg. ‘Crannoge.’ At the centre of the central part of Lough Scur. There may be medieval references to this site from 1345 when four sons of Cathch Mac Raghnaill were executed on Loch an Scuir, and in 1390, O’Rourke escaped to the castle of Loch an Scuir (ALC). In 1580 Loch an Scuir was taken, and Maelsechlainn Mac Raghnaill was slain. Rath. On top of a flat-topped drumlin (120). Rath. At the crest of the SE-facing slope of a NE-SW ridge (120). Enclosure. At the S end of a NE-SW drumlin ridge (158). Cross-slab. There is a record of a small limestone slab with a simple incised cross which as triangular terminals (186). "
