"Pinkman: Créach = A brake or a shrubbery. The word is, also, applied to land over-grown with coarse vegetation of any kind. This name is written on the Ordnance Maps Crey and Creagh. “Next day they sent marauding parties to Creit, to Cairthe-Muilchenn and to Tor-Glinne-Fearna.” Four Masters, AD 1235. O’Donovan, in a note, thinks the reference in the first name might be to this place near Drumshanbo. But Crey, near Drumshanbo, would be around 30 miles from either of the other places which are in North Leitrim. "
