"Pinkman: Carraig-a’-Phuirt = Rock or the bank or landing place. There is a lake here, and, not unlikely, Port was applied to the place where the boats were moored. It lies a short distance west of the Catholic Church of Kiltubrid. Part of this townland was formerly called Mullaghnanawe, Mullach-na-n-áth “Mullaghnanawe, being part of Carrickpurte” (Royal Commission Report, 1825). "
