"Pinkman: Druimín-a’-leasa = Little ridge of the fort (lios). The words ‘lios’ and ‘rath’ were probably used, originally, to denote different things – rath, the circular mound or fortification and lios, the place enclosed. But they came to mean the same thing – the embankment or fortification that was thrown up around the home as a protection and a defence. This townland lies along the east coast of Lough Allen… There is a fort near the centre of the townland. "
