"Pinkman: Coill-a’-lín = Wood of the flax. Líon, flax. Compare the English words linen and linseed. The flax here was probably the wild or fairy flax líon-na-mBansídhe. Linen was manufactured in Ireland from the earliest times. It was worked and dyed in a great variety of colours, and was very much in use. (Joyce, Social History, Vol.II) "
