"Arch. Inventory: Agintass/Antfield. Cairn (site). On top of a hill, the site is now occupied by a water tower. Marked as ‘Monument’ on the 1st ed. of the OS 6-inch map and described as a small cairn thought to have been erected over the bodies of soldiers slain in 1689, according to a 19th century manuscript. Described as a small mound with bushes and locally thought to be about 300 years old (14). "

Pinkman: "Achadh-an-Teasa = Field of the heat, or the sultry field. Aghintass townland is beside Annaduff Catholic Church. There was a small mound, with an old thorn bush grouwing out of it in this townland. It was said to be a monument to a man who was killed 300 or 400 years ago. It is not easy to say why the place was so named. It may be that it has a fine southern aspect or it may be that live-stock had good cover there in hot weather."
