"Pinkman: Tulaihgh Odhráin = Oran’s or Odhran’s hill. Coillis Odran (O’Donovan). There was the Tellach Odhran, a sub-division of the Conmaicne Maighe Rein. See Hogan, Onomasticon, ‘Muintir-Eolais;’ and Book of Fenagh. Odhran is a diminutive form of Odhar and means, literally, a little pale-faced-man. It was formerly common as a personal name. St. Patrick’s charioteer was named Odhran, and from him Desertoran, in Offaly is named. From Odhran comes the surname Horan, Ó hOdhráin and from Odhar, the surname Maguire, Mac-Uidhir, Mag-Uidhir."
