"Pinkman: Druim-colpa = Ridge of the collop or full grown animal. Dr. O’Donovan, Supplement O’Reilly, defines colpa as a full grown animal of the horse or cow kind. The word was, also, used as a measure of value. Six sheep were called a ‘colpa,’ that is, they were supposed to eat as much grass as a full grown cow or horse. Dr. Joyce, however, states that the word was originally used to denote a three year old heifer, and that it is to be understood in this sense in local names. This, then, was probably a favourite grazing place for heifers. "
