Hurlestown
A part of Hurlestown townland in Ardee parish.
A slab of greywacke stone set upright being 5ft 3in. high from the ground and 6 ft broad at the grouond and 6 in. thick having a hole in it near the centre of the stone 9 ins in diameter. The stone is said to have been used as one of the goals for the game of hurling and that there was a similar stone on the hill a mile to the south east. The stone was about 9 or 12 inches higher; a boy broke part from the top. (Tá léaráid den chloch san Ainmleabhar.)
