Tá iarracht de dhéfhoghar le sonrú ar chuid den fhianaise luath, m.sh. ‘Cornelyana’ (1652). Tuigeadh do Ghaeilgeoirí na háite gur gin. iol. laíán .i. laoghán .i. “of the (little) calves” a bhí sa chuid deireanach den logainm. B’fhéidir gur imir an fhorbairt gin. iol. lao → gin. iol. laonna sa Nua-Ghaeilge tionchar air seo; féach bf Lios na Lao/Lisnalee ní fada ó bhaile mar a bhfuil corrshampla de ‘-naleen’, ‘na laoigheann’ pl:AL, san fhianaise freisin. Na cainteoirí dúchasacha céanna a sholáthair na foirmeacha Gaeilge sa dá chás i 1836.
