the town(land) of Brádh
Brádh – leagan Gaeilge den tsloinne Angla-Normannach Bray.
Cé go bhfuil an sloinne Gaelach Ó Breaghaigh alias Ó Breaghdha fianaithe go maith i gcontae na Mí fosta, sloinne a ainmníodh as ríocht Ghaelach ársa Bhreá (SG Brega), i bhfianaise na bhfoirmeacha Gaeilge áitiúla a bailíodh in aimsir na Suirbhéireachta Ordanáis (1836 Baile Bhráidh pl:AL srl.), agus i bhfianaise na dtreochtaí logainmníochta sa cheantar .i. a choitianta atá sloinnte Angla-Normannacha i mbailte fearainn cheantar Shláine, is dócha gurb é an sloinne Angla-Normannach atá sa logainm seo. Tá an sloinne Bray fianaithe go maith i measc na nAngla-Normannach. (Féach: Logainmneacha na hÉireann IV, Ainmneacha na mBailte Fearainn, Loch Garman, Braestown/Baile Bhráidh; logainm.ie #54242)

the town(land) of Brádh
Brádh – Irish language form of the Anglo-Surname Bray.
Although the Gaelic surname Ó Breaghaigh alias Ó Breaghdha is also well attested in County Meath, a surname named from the ancient Gaelic kingdom of Breá (SG Brega), in light of the local Irish forms collected at the time of the Ordnance Survey (1836 Baile Bhráidh pl:AL etc.), and in light of the placename trends in the area i.e. the prevalence of Anglo-Norman surnames in the townlands of the Slaine area, it is likely that this placename is an Anglo-Norman surname. The surname Bray is well attested among the Anglo-Normans. (See: Placenames of Ireland IV, Names of Towns, Wexford, Braestown/Baile Bhráidh; logainm.ie #54242)
