"On one side of Lugnadiff (pron. Lug na Daithfe) ... is a marsh partly in Bellasadare Parish and partly in Dromard Parish ... called Brugh.
At this Brugh I arrived at the full extent of the application of the word; it is applied both to the flat and to what is called in English, bent (pron.) a kind of rushes (sic) which are used for thatching houses, and for litter. I heard an old woman ordering a little boy ...Tabhar leat ualach bruigh (brooee)... (336) even Brugh being of the masculine gender and inflected An Bhrogha ... (ex. qr. Teampall na Bruighe)"
